Have you ever heard a story like this? It's really scary.
Someone in our class told this story: "Some kid was hiding in a refrigerator to surprise his mom."
"And then?" I asked.
"Well, apparently the refrigerator that opens from the outside couldn't be opened from the inside. The mom thought the child had gone missing outside, so she was searching for the child outside... and when she finally opened the refrigerator, it was already too late."
At first, I thought it was complete nonsense. How could you not get out of a refrigerator quickly? I thought it was ridiculous.
But then something happened after school that day.
On my way home with friends, I saw a refrigerator dumped by the riverside. That riverside was famous for people secretly dumping garbage there.
As soon as I saw the refrigerator, I remembered the story I heard during the day. Can you really not open it from inside?
Curiosity got the better of me, and I told my friends, "Hey, let's test if you really can't get out of a refrigerator."
My friends tried to stop me, but I eventually decided to go inside the refrigerator. We agreed that if I didn't come out by the count of ten, my friends would open it from outside.
One, two, three, four, five...
At first, it was fine. When I pushed, it seemed like the door would open. But then...
After six and seven, suddenly the door wouldn't budge. No matter how hard I pushed, it wouldn't move at all. Cold sweat started running down my face.
Eight, nine... From this point, it was truly terrifying. I felt like I was suffocating, and the cold metallic smell was stinging my nose.
But before I could even count to ten... I heard a strange sound. From inside the refrigerator.
"Wheeze... wheeze..." it sounded like someone gasping for breath.
At that moment, chills ran down my spine. And then... I felt something cold brush against my neck from behind.
I tried to turn around, but the inside of the refrigerator was too cramped to turn my body. But I kept feeling something moving behind me.
When my friends opened the refrigerator, I was apparently pale as a ghost. According to my friends, as soon as I got out of the refrigerator, I ran like crazy without looking back.
After running for a while and getting away from the riverside, I finally caught my breath and said:
"There was... there was someone there. Someone else was in that refrigerator besides me!"
My friends said I must have been seeing things because I was scared, but... I know. I'm certain that someone who had been trapped before was still in that refrigerator.
Since that day, I never go to that riverside. And I get goosebumps just looking at any refrigerator.
If you ever find an abandoned refrigerator... never go inside out of curiosity. You might really not be able to get out.
